Saturday was a great day for Will and I, but after all our fun was over we had a hole in our hearts.
You know when you meet someone for the first time and you just know that he’s “The ONE”. Everything from the way he smiles to the way he kisses is magical, and it’s as if your life will never be the same from this point forward.
Well…this happened to Will and I on Saturday. We stopped by a local pet store just to browse because we know eventually we would like to add a puppy to our little family but were still undecided about the breed. As we walked by all the puppies one little guy locked eyes with me and I knew he was “The One”. We looked at a feisty little Dachshund puppy first. She was CRAZY and Cute but not the one for me.
Then we met him face to face….a little Cockapoo baby boy. As he molded himself into my hands my heart instantly melted. He snuggled so close to me and instantly felt like part of the Collum Family. Will took a turn holding him and fell in love also. We played for a bit, falling deeper and deeper in love with him, but ultimately decided to keep our impulse buying at bay and resist the urge to take him home. As we waited for him to go back with his friends Will explained how we would never find another Dog like this little guy who we named Sir Bennington Pawsworth or Benny for short. As I said goodbye a tear came to my eye. And I really broke down once I got to the car.
I know we weren’t ready to buy a puppy when we went in the store but there was something about that little guy that I will never forget. I will keep him in my prayers and hope he finds a family who will love him as much as we do. He’s one special little guy!
God Bless You & Your Puppies!

Kansas State Fair
Will and I are trying our hand at being true Kansans and what better way than a trip to the fair…The Kansas State Fair that is.
Now coming from Iowa fairs are a big deal….And ….there is no fair like the Iowa State Fair! But we made the 45 minute trip to “Hutch” to see what all the fuss was about.
We pulled up right across from the main ticketing area and parked for FREE! Yes…that’ right…FREE! Tickets were only $8 per person so we were feeling pretty good about our day so far. So we grabbed our fair map to plan our attack.
In the equestrian arena there were some beautiful horses showing their talent by weaving around cones and answering every command of their rider. I’m not so sure what the objective was or how the scoring was tallied but it was beautiful to watch and almost made me want to saddle up. YeeHaww!!
Then we moved on to some of the barns which were all open air, keeping the smell for this city girl down to a minimum. There were cows, rabbits and birds. Some of the biggest Turkeys...no, not KU Fans...real Turkeys...I’ve ever seen!
Unfortunately, I left the camera at home so there are no pictures from our outing….(Which is a lesson I’m happy to learn now….pre children).
We search high and low or the flea market/ Varied Industries type building and it was nowhere to be found…. Just more animals and the 4-H dorm. Darn! But hey....it saved us some money.
We also were looking for the Krispie Kreme Burger all the radio staions were buzzing about. Yep...it's just like what it sounds....a Cheeseburger with bacon and all the fixins stacked between two sweet Krispie Kremes. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! We didn't even want to eat it....just see who was. Gotta love People Watching! he he he! : )
All in all it was a great day for the Collum family. We are happy to have the experience under our belt but will save our fair legs for Iowa.
God Bless,
Angie

Crazy Times for the Collum Family
Well....to say I've been neglecting my blog would be the understatement of the century. But, once again I am pledging to do a better job of writing, journaling and blogging. I have a ton of thoughts in my little head and it does a body good to get them out on paper (errr..or on the computer that is).
The biggest news from the Collum Family is our big move. Yep…that’s right folks…Will and I are now back in Kansas!!! We both took new jobs towards the end of June and officially moved by July 4th. It was a little stressful, but we got it all done. Thank goodness for a great family….I’m so lucky!
Other than that we’ve been pretty low key here while trying to adjust to our new life and 2nd home during our first year of marriage. But we are young, in love and one hell of a team! I’ve decided to stop trying to rubberneck around each turn on life’s highway and just sit back and enjoy the ride with my best friend.
God Bless You and Yours!
