Baby Stuff!

Will and I took a nice long stroll through our local Babies R Us on Saturday and we both left with the overwhelming feeling and realization that our little peanut will need a lot, make that a ton, of stuff.

Now, don’t get me wrong I knew we needed the car seat, highchair, crib and other baby essentials…..but I had no idea about the different bathtubs, umbrella strollers, jogging strollers, bouncy seats, tummy time mats….Ahhhhh! I list goes on and on.

So…to start the baby buying process we decided to go with something simple and fun. We purchase baby bedding (Winnie the Pooh bedding to be specific). Here…take a look…

Now, Pooh Bear has always had special place in both our hearts.

For me, Pooh Bear was my nickname growing up from my Mom (much to my embarrassment in my teenage years). However, I embraced the name when I was younger even sending home letters from church camp signed Po Bear (ok…I was young and couldn’t spell..LOL!)

Will's attachment to Winnie the Pooh was more due to his love for the stories and characters. However, his baby nursery was also Pooh Bear back in the day. Awwww!

So…one thing down thousands to go!

Cravings

Well I’m officially 15 weeks pregnant today and according to the “fruit tracker” the baby is about the size of an orange. (Wow…they sure do grow fast). Anywho…I thought I would blog a little bit about the weirdness that is my pregnancy and my cravings…so here we go.

#1. Chili. I would eat chili morning, noon and night if I could and for a while I think I was eating just about every day. And did I mention I was in complete and total heaven. LOL! The chili warmed my belly and just tasted so good….Mmmmm…Chili. I think I know what I’m having for dinner. Maybe this obsession started since I found out I was expecting in January, but maybe it’s just my love of chili. LOL! Either way….I’m totally 100% obsessed!

#2. Strawberry cake with Strawberry frosting. This obsession came during an office party when one of my amazing co-workers the treat. Now they slices of cake were cut very small….but I still have 4. LOL! And ever since that day I’ve been dreaming about Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Frosting. Yum! Yum!

#3. Oranges. This is very appropriate since the baby is also the size of an orange, but I love me some oranges. I could eat 10 a day if it didn’t cost so much (and the acid in them wasn’t so high). But nonetheless…throw an orange my way and you won’t get it back.

So….that’s a little glimpse into the world of a starving pregnant lady who typically has only food on the brain. Just sitting here my mouth is watering and I’m planning my grocery list and strawberry cake and frosting is defiantly going on the list!

I’m just glad my amazing husband helps me out and makes sure my meals are as balanced as possible or I may just let my brain and imagination come up with some of the craziest plates ever. Hope everyone has a great weekend with some great eats! I know I will! ;-)

Amazing Grace

My family just got word that my Great-Aunt Ruth, who just happens to turn 96 next week, suffered from a stroke on Tuesday morning. My prayers are being sent to the Lord to comfort her as she battles through this tough time, but at the same time I know she is ready to go home to be with our Lord.

My Great-Aunt Ruth is one of the most spiritual women I know, and serves a such a witness to how living a purpose driven life and having a strong faith can see you through even your darkest days. She has seen so many loved ones be taken to our Heavenly Father, some far too young, but faith never left her.

One of my most vivid memories of my Aunt Ruth is her telling the story of when my Uncle Walt passed away. Uncle Walt had been sick for some time but everyone knew he was going to take a turn for the better any day. But in my heart, I think Aunt Ruth knew better and she made her peace with that. The night Uncle Walt died I remember Aunt Ruth saying that he was struggling to breathe and she talked to the Lord's spirit and ask him to ease Walt's pain. I remember tears filling my eyes when she spoke of this. She loved my Uncle Walt so much that she wanted his suffering to end and him to spend the rest of his life with the Lord rather than with her on earth.

Another thing I will never forget about my Aunt Ruth is the twinkle in her eye when she smiled! And everytime you spoke with her she would end the conversation with.....God loves you unconditionally, and so do I! Hearing those words always filled my heart with such joy.

I titled this post Amamzing Grace, because whenever I think of my Aunt Ruth that song always fills my head. I don't know if it's her faith, her grace, her smile or love that make me think of this. But the one thing I do know....She is and always will be AMAZING!

Baby Update!

Well...It's time once again for a baby update! We had an OB Appointment yesterday and took a quick listen to our little peanut's heartbeat. He or She was beating strong at 152. My blood pressure was good and everything is right on track and Will and I couldn't be happier. AND...In only 4 short weeks (May 9th to be exact....and the day after Mother's Day...which couldn't be more perfect) we get to see our little baby again to determine if it's a boy or girl! So excited!!! Let's just hope and pray these 4 weeks fly by and the baby is willing to cooperate with us on the big day!!

On another front Pregnancy has been hitting me hard the last few days with morning, noon and night sickness, and the list of foods I never want to eat again is quickly grown. Yuck! But...I wouldn’t go through all this for anyone else. :-)
